A File Manager tool is available in all web hosting Control Panels. As the name implies, it's used to control the files in an account and all File Managers support a variety of standard features - browsing, moving, copying and deleting files. Certain Control Panels could provide you with more advanced features also - changing file and folder permissions or creating and unpacking archives. Though files could be uploaded and downloaded through an FTP client, the File Manager is used considerably more often, so the simpler to use it is, the easier it will be for you to control your presence online in general. The opposite is also true - a File Manager that is not easy to use can make it more annoying and challenging for you to manage the site content, specifically if you don't have previous experience.
File Manager in Shared Hosting
The File Manager tool, that's a part of our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel, will allow you to administer all the files you upload to your shared hosting account easily. You'll be able to move files and whole folders by dragging-and-dropping them inside the account. You can upload content in the same manner - pick a file/folder on your PC and drag it to your browser where the File Manager is loaded. By right-clicking a file or a folder within your account, you can also access context menus with more complex options - you will be able to create or to unpack an archive, to create a password-protected area, to alter the UNIX permissions via a web interface or to modify the content with a variety of editors without ever leaving the CP – a plain text editor, a code editor or an HTML editor. We have also provided help articles and video tutorials, which you may access right from the File Manager to learn more about its functions.
File Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our File Manager tool will allow you to do pretty much anything you need. It's a part of the Hepsia Control Panel, included with all semi-dedicated server accounts and besides the normal functions such as copying, deleting or renaming files, you will be able to use right-click menus so as to access more sophisticated ones. With a couple of clicks, you shall be able to password-protect any folder in the account, to modify the UNIX permissions in case a script-based application needs it or to modify the content of any file using WYSIWYG editors, plain text and code. What's more, you shall no longer require an FTP program to upload new content because you may just drag-and-drop files and entire folders from your laptop or computer directly to the File Manager. The tool shall do the rest, conserving the folder structure of the content that you upload.
