All generic Top-Level Domain extensions and some country-code ones support a security lock option whose purpose is to prevent unapproved transfers of existing domain names. Many registry operators that supervise country-code top-level domain names that do not support this feature are in the process of adopting it for greater security and for the convenience of the domain owners. A domain name can be transferred only if it is unlocked and only a registrant who has been given access to the account with the current registrar company can do that. New domain names are registered with the lock option activated deliberately, so as to hinder any unsolicited transfer attempts. The lock feature is one of the safety measures for regulating the transfer of active domain names between registrars that have been adopted over the years.
Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting
Locking and unlocking a domain registered through us is exceptionally easy. This can be accomplished through the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our shared hosting, and will require exactly two clicks. All your domain names will be listed in alphabetical order in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the registrar lock option, you will see a padlock-like logo. Click on it once and you will see the domain name’s present status. Click again and you’ll change its status. The update will take effect instantly without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be ‘refreshed’ on WHOIS lookup sites, so you can proceed with the transfer right away.
Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers
Locking or unlocking any domain name registered through us is remarkably easy and can be accomplished through the Hepsia Control Panel – the one via which you administer your semi-dedicated server. You’ll find all your domains in the Domain Manager section and the ones whose extensions support the registrar lock feature will have a padlock icon on their right. You can unlock any domain by clicking on its icon and since the update will propagate instantaneously, you’ll be able to proceed with the domain name transfer process without needing to wait for the lock status to be updated on WHOIS websites. If you reconsider your decision and opt not to transfer the domain name away from us, locking it again will be just as simple and will not take more than several mouse clicks in your Control Panel.
